Alongside vitamins, minerals, fats, proteins and sugars, plants contain many more vegetable substances that protect them against bacteria, viruses, animals and all sorts of external attacks such as oxygen, radiation, heat… Plants have no legs and have to protect themselves with these vegetable substances. Scientists have meanwhile discovered 12,000 various vegetable substances. An average plant consists of hundreds of these healing substances. Many of these vegetable substances also have a strong antioxidant effect and in humans prevent all sorts of ailments of ageing.
The largest group of these vegetable protective substances are polyphenols, 4,000 of which are already known. Alternating vegetables, herbs, fruit and grains is therefore highly recommended. Polyphenols have a positive effect on digestion and are often very strong antioxidants. This group of strong antioxidants include catechins and flavanols that are copious in Matcha and less so in a cup of green or black tea. A cup of Kotobuki Match contains 137 times more EGCG than a bag of green tea. Flavanols and catechins curb infections, are antiviral, antibacterial, relax blood vessels, increase our resistance and, through their strong antioxidant effects, combat the ailments of ageing.
1. An important effect of EGCG is its cancer-resistant quality. A study (2008) at the University of Mississippi reveals that consumption of EGCG significantly curbs growth of breast tumors in female mice. Over time, this insight can lead to a new approach to prevention and treatment of breast cancer among women (American Physiological Society (April 8, 2008).
2. Because EGCG is a powerful antioxidant, it also has a positive effect on removal of cholesterol and various ailments of ageing.
3. Through its antiviral and anti-bacterial capacity, EGCG also proves useful in preventing tooth decay and gingivitis.
4. EGCG is stronger than antioxidants vitamin C and E. Furthermore, EGCG assists vitamin C and E in doing their job. The catechins and polyphenols in Matcha are 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times stronger than vitamin E, according to research at the University of Kansas.

There is currently an ongoing study in which scientists discover how EGCG from Matcha could protect the health of diabetics (Scientists discover how polyphenols in green tea may protect health of diabetics- August 17, 2010 S.L. Baker – Natural News). Their findings suggest that EGCG from Matcha may well be a very powerful means to help prevent damage caused by high blood-sugar levels. EGCG would also raise the level of insulin, important for type 2 diabetics (Korean Kyung Hee University).
6. Catechins are an important anti-ageing agent for radiant young skin. Free radicals are responsible for damaging cell membranes of our body’s skin. 7. EGCG thus helps to counter bodily ageing by reducing, neutralizing and eliminating free radicals and their adverse consequences. EGCG has a life-prolonging effect. Eternal youth for body and skin.
Matcha opts for catechins in their natural, synergetic and holistic form – naturally abundant in Matcha. Do not believe in isolates from EGCG (capsules) because these lack their holistic and synergetic interaction with other vegetable substances. Eat and live wholesomely. Make an informed choice for the protective catechin EGCG: a little substance with great therapeutic power plentiful in Matcha.
